partition: legacy of the line (2017)

Presented by Sanjeev Kohli and Aasmah Mir, this 1 x 60” film for BBC Scotland examines the events of 1947 through the eyes of those who lived through that tumultuous time and who now are settled in Scotland. Archive and first- hand testimony is woven together, and those who once stood opposed to one another come together as octogenarians living in Scotland to tell their stories and experiences.

AFTER SHEKU (2016)

Highly commended at the Royal Television Society Scotland awards in the documentary category, this 1 x 60” documentary for BBC Scotland tells the tragic story of the death in police custody of 31 year old father of two, Sheku Bayoh in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

With unique access to Sheku’s family within days of the incident, and the use of dramatic reconstructions, this was the first film that documented what happened on that day and the weeks that followed. The case is currently the subject of an unprecedented Public Enquiry in Scotland.

scots scuil (2012)

This 1 x 60” documentary for BBC Scotland follows six children between the ages of 8 and 12 in different parts of Scotland who use the Scots language and examines how the language has shaped them, their families and their communities.

Working with Scots language experts - novelist James Robertson and writer Matthew Fitt - the children see how important the language is, both historically, and in the context of modern Scotland.
